si senior.
A1 - French 1. Because learning languages is one thing i'm actually pretty good at, and I figure I'm making half my ancestors proud by learning it. On the first day, my teacher pronounced my french last name wrong. Good one. Whatever, I really like him.
A2 - AP US History. I love history. Love it love it. And a smile is permanently glued on my face because Newman is so hilarious.
A3 - Film Literature. My first thoughts on entering that classroom: this is Divination. The overhead lights are off; there are just a bunch of lamps. Rugs, curtains, shelves, real furniture, the works. Oh, and it smells good in there. Then Mr. Deans started talking and I could help but think of...
"My name is Professor Trelawney. You may not have seen me before. I find that descending too often into the hustle and bustle of the main school clouds my Inner Eye. . . .
So you have chosen to study Divination, the most difficult of all the magical arts. I must warn you at the outset that if you do not have the Sight, there is very little I will be able to teach you. Books can take you only so far in this field. . . ." pg 102-103, harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban.

Well, I love movies. So I'm thinking I'll like that class, even if it's a little non-traditional.
A4 - Seminary. I got Taggart. That's who I wanted.
B1 - Orchestra. Walking into that class on the first day was like walking into a bad dream. Oh well, orchestra is what it is.
B2 - Radio 2. I like talking on the radio. If you live in Utah county (and pretty soon salt lake county too), you can listen to my show on Mondays from 4:00-5:30 pm. On 88.1 fm. You will love it. And I'm kind of the president of the radio club. Cool.
B3 - Advanced Video/Broadcasting. Which I love. Because editing videos is my favorite thing to do. Especially during school. It's my third year in that class, but I think this year will be my favorite.
B4 - Popular Literature. We read books and talk about them. Awesome. And Gallagher is super cool. And I have friends in there.
Notice: no math or science. love that.

wishing your life away is really uncool.
If I could have three wishes today, they would be this:
1 - I wish that I was 5' 6".
2 - I wish I had unlimited itunes money.
3 - Genie, I wish you free.

not a big goal-setter.
i suppose the new school year is when a lot of people set goals. so, i could set a bunch of goals right now that will help me have a spiffy year..
-get up on time.
i've proven this one to be impossible eleven times over. i can get up on time for the first two or three months. but gradually, i start getting up later and later throughout the year. by may, i'm getting up 10 minutes before school starts. happens every year.
so i won't set that goal.
-be organized.
ha. i don't think i can be organized. all my papers are somewhere in my backpack, and that's all i need to know. folders are for sissies.
i won't set that goal either.
i'm not really into setting goals like that and i'm not exactly sure why. but there are things i want to do this year... i guess we can call them goals.
-limit myself to wearing one baggy sweater/sweatshirt per week
-join the rest of society by watching all three lord of the rings movies
-get a pen pal
-do my yoga dvds. like twice a week.
-read northanger abbey, emma, persuasion, and mansfield park
-hang out at ky's apartment more than i did last year
-get up on time.

harry potter world: part 7
one time, i was waiting in line to ride the hungarian horntail at harry potter world. there were two strangers in front of me. part of their conversation went as follows:
A: what the heck is a muggle anyway?
B: i think it's a little creature or something...
A: i have no idea what any of the stuff here means, but it's pretty cute.
they should have been kicked out of hogsmeade.

why make something disposable, like a building, when you can make something that will last forever, like a greeting card.
i had a dream within a dream last night. i've been waiting for that to happen since inception came out.
i haven't seen my sister for nearly 3 days. we live in the same house.
i don't like that spider that was in my shower, or the word "flan."

i like smelling fall in the air.
remember how i got a really good tan in florida? it all peeled off. my skin is the fairest of them all.
cool.

i have some kind of complex.
it's called: i get hungry, but if what sounds good takes longer than 5 minutes to make, i simply don't eat.
it's really bad.
or i end up making something super easy. i can't tell you how many grilled cheeses i've had this summer. good thing i like them.
oh... i guess that's called being lazy.
i could really go for a mango tango smoothie from kneaders.
or cheesecake pancakes from ihop.
or butternut squash pizza from pizzeria 712.
or shrimp from anywhere yummy.
or barbecue chicken pizza from macaroni grill.
this girl is hungry.

some good ones i've come across lately.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
Oscar Wilde
"I often want to criticize Jane Austen....Every time I read 'Pride and Prejudice' I want to dig her up and beat her over the head with her own shin bone."
Mark Twain
"It seems like everything I do reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around?"
Kathleen Kelly
"I'm the type who'd be happy not going anywhere as long as I was sure I knew exactly what was happening at the places I wasn't going to. I'm the type who'd like to sit home and watch every party that I'm invited to on a monitor in my bedroom."
Andy Warhol (hello, story of my life)

harry potter world: part 4
I'll admit it.
Last night I was listening to my iPod as I was trying to fall asleep.
It was my playlist of all the best songs from the Harry Potter movies.
I started thinking about Harry Potter world a little bit,
then the best part of "Fawkes the Phoenix" played...
and I started to get kind of weepy.
So much for being the girl that doesn't cry.

Only because I've watched this scene 100 times today
It's the best part of the movie
and
he kind of makes me melt.
Mostly his accent.
probably copying jenna.
a list that changes almost daily.
my favorites, in no particular order.1. I told you my compound would take you places. I never said they'd be places you wanted to go.
2. She said she 'hates him with the fire of a thousand suns.' That's a direct quote.
3. He was a rower. He was very hot.
4. Better a silly girl with a flower than a silly boy with a horse and a stick.
5. Dreams feel real while we're in them. It isn't until we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.
6. What a busy afterlife you're having.
7. Legend has it, when the Santa Anas blow, all bets are off; anything can happen.
8. Jenny and me was like peas and carrots.

last night I had a dream I was in europe with joseph gordon-levitt.
Probably because I watched an interview yesterday of him talking about 500 Days of Summer.
He talked about why he and Zooey Dechanel have such good chemistry and stuff. He said one of the things he did was listen to She & Him every day on his way to work during the filming. He said he was 'just smitten by her beautiful melodies' and he knew his character would be too.
Uhh, he's cute. Speaking of She & Him....
I really gotta go to their concert on the 26th.

there will be no foolish wandwavings or silly incantations in this class.
I was reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as I do, and I came across a passage that was surprisingly similar to my very first day of AP Calculus....
"Settle down," said [Palmer] coldly, shutting the door behind him.
There was no real need for the call to order; the moment the class had heard the door close, quiet had fallen and all fidgeting stopped. [Palmer's] mere presence was usually enough to ensure a class's silence.
"Before we begin today's lesson," said [Palmer], sweeping over to his desk and staring around at them all, "I think it appropriate to remind you that next May you will be sitting an important examination, during which you will prove how much you have learned about the composition and use of magical [calculus]. Moronic though some of this class undoubtedly are, I expect you to scrape an 'Acceptable' in your [AP test], or suffer my... displeasure."
His gaze lingered this time upon [Jessie], who gulped.
"After this year, of course, many of you will cease studying with me," [Palmer] went on. "I take only the very best into my N.E.W.T. [calculus] class, which means that some of us will certainly be saying good-bye."
His eyes rested on [Jessie] and his lip curled. [Jessie] glared back, feeling a grim pleasure at the idea that she would be able to give up [math] after [eleventh] year.
"But we have another year to go before that happy moment of farewell," said [Palmer] softly, "so whether you are intending to attempt N.E.W.T. [calculus] or not, I advise all of you to concentrate your efforts upon maintaining the high-pass level I have come to expect from [AP] students.
That dialogue was uncanny. I think my teacher read that passage before the first day of school.
But ohhh, I'm so glad that "happy moment of farewell" finally came.
I'll feel like a plagiarising criminal unless I cite this....

she was a daaaay tripper
We took a day trip to Logan, to watch operas, because we like to be full of culture and class.
We went to the oldest and smelliest book store ever.
"Seduction at Christmas" and "Ravished by a Highlander."
Do you know what else I like? I like when songs say the age that you are:
"If I was seventeen I could find it in between the cushions of somebody's couch."
"Tell me 'bout the days when you were seventeen."
"When I was seventeen, I had wrists like steel."
