::do you like to color?::
yes! i love to color and draw things, especially with colored pencils.
and actually, part of the job i get paid to do is coloring video. my job title is an editor/colorist.
so i really can tell people my job is to color. heh heh.

::does the broadcast building have any fun stuff to explore/good places to nap? i've never been in there cuz i'm a little scurred of it... but I AM SO CURIOUS ABOUT IT.::
the broadcast building is the building where i work. here's edit bay #1 where i spend a lot of time.

so YOU tell ME if there are good places to nap!
i don't nap at work, but if for some reason i needed to sleep over there, hide from an intruder, etc. edit bay #1 is THE place to be.
the the building really is an incredibly nice broadcast facility and i love working there. i love that i get to do something i like and that actually matters and get paid to do it as a college student! it's great. that place also has the cleanest nicest bathrooms.

::which byu electives would you recommend?::
i'm not really the authority on this, because pretty much all of my electives are within my major. BUT. i always recommend intro to film (tma 102). anyone can take it, the professors are awesome, the TAs are just people like me, and you watch a ton of movies. it's good for your soul.

and later i *get* to transcode hours and hours of video for an editing project.

and buy more textbooks.

what happened last week?

this past week was a blur. i barely remember any specific events that happened. i pack a lot of ish into each day. it's cool, it's college. but this week, i'm hoping to actually remember some of the stuff that happens instead of being a college robot.

last night i had "good night ladies" from the music man stuck in my head. it kept replaying over and over. but instead of the line at the end: "we're going to leave you now," my mind kept saying, "we're going to kill you now." ok... good night, ladies. we're going to kill you now. that's cool.

here's to a better week ahead.

it's a big day. my last official day as the byu weekly editor.

58 episodes. wow.

i'll still be editing in the bays, but just editing other shows now. and i'm pumped.

what a trip. you can see many of the emotions i experienced with weekly over the past year and a half:

most of those emotions being boredom.

but that last one being, "i can't believe i had to come in at 7:30am to export. you would do this to me on my last episode ever, byu weekly."

it's summertime again...

my show passed the quality check. that means i get to sleep in tomorrow.

i do pretty much the same thing every day.

but i guess that doesn't have to be a bad thing.

the good news? oscars this weekend.

my application for my major is finally done and turned in.

and i found a full bag of almond joys in my closet today.

songs and bay 19

i was tired at work this morning. that is me with fetus face, using all my strength to keep one eye open while my show rendered. on another note, today's ipod shuffle was especially great while i was walking to physical science. i'm gonna getcha good by shania twain, at last by etta james, show me the meaning of being lonely by the backstreet boys, and hometown glory by adele. those are all songs i love to belt. i just told my self to hold it in until 3 when i was back in my soundproof editing bay. then you bet i sang those out loud.

tuesdays with jessie

i am going to love my tuesdays this semester. i sleep in, go to devotional, go to lunch with dad and kylie, work a little bit (maybe a lot bit), and go to one class (my FAVORITE class).

this particular tuesday:

lunch with dad and kylie: blimpie. they know how to build a good sandwich.

my FAVORITE class: humanities. the pictures in my textbook look like that instead of pictures of dissected pigs. and today we talked about michelangelo. love.

work: the show has been taking over my life this week. that happens from time to time. but someone has to edit that stuff.

ballet bun: do you ever wonder what your hairdo has looked like all day? i do.

re-runs

a lame feeling

is the one you get when you go to watch your favorite show on tv (or on hulu, in my case) and see that there was no new episode that week. darn you, re-runs!

that was the old me.

now that i edit a tv show for my job, i absolutely love the weeks we re-air old episodes. i barely have to work! i simply send an email that says "re-air episode 630." and i get to stay home and play monopoly.

now when i go to hulu and see that modern family has re-run episodes two weeks in a row, the new me doesn't get mad. the new me simply says, 'good job, editor. you work hard and we all love you.'

i love re-runs.

787 steps from work to my apartment door.

it takes the exact amount of time to walk home from work

as it does to listen to "all these things that i've done" by the killers.

weekending

it was one of these days today:

but to make things better, kylie and i went to j dawgs after work. they have THE best hotdogs. i think i'm ruined. i will be craving a one of their polish dogs every day for the rest of my life.

we also went to spoon it up for some frozen yogurt after. jdawgs and spoon it up are right next door to each other, so it would have been a waste not to get some, right? we didn't want spoon it up to feel bad.

all weekends need to be three days. I need more than a busy saturday and a sunday to recover.

I was on the front page of the daily herald today.

just descending the stairs at the broadcasting building.

yes, i'm making a weird face. i had a brownie in my mouth. how embarrassing.

and i had my glasses on because i can't see when studio lights are in my face.

and the video playing on the third tv screen is my b-roll i fetched from my archive for the dedication. woo.

I got interviewed about what it's like to be an editor.

My favorite part was that i got to make my own super.

That's the blue thing that says the name of the person.

I make them for hundreds of other people, but this one is all mine!

that is my face. the face of a girl who edits all day.

yesterday i worked 13 hours.

today i'm working about 12.

it's called: i'm one editor who is now doing the work of three editors.

cool, yo.

despite the face, i actually do like making tv shows and stuff.

i wouldn't want to be working somewhere else.

well. maybe harry potter world. or as zachary levi's personal assistant.

today is weird.

i don't feel like myself.

and i go to work all day every day.

and it's already june 20th.

i don't know what i want to be when i grow up either.

people keep asking me what my major is.

and i say "probably film."

but what i mean is "hhhhh i have no idea. leave me be."

i'm not good at being a grown-up.

not good at all.

i am good at eating with chopsticks though.

so at least i have that going for me.

this is what i do now.
