last week.. last vacation

i spent all of last week rollin with my homies at lake powell. just keepin it real. it was the bomb.

(the phrases that we said the most on the trip? "rollin with my homies" "keepin it real" and "it's the bomb" a la clueless).

the weekend

we went to st. george for the weekend to enjoy some red rocks, watch some theatre and fireworks, and swim a lot. oh, and eat frozen custard aka YUM.

and it's off to lake powell tomorrow morning. my parents are trying to squeeze in as many trips as possible before i leave on my mission, i think. i'm not complaining.

it's pretty low key around here.

the christmas times

{christmas eve is a really good day for the guy in charge of the pajama industry. and, just noticed kirsten attempting to strangle kaity. cool.}

it's been such a fun christmas break so far, and yesterday was really rad. i can tell you that there's nothing better than hanging out with my family 24/7, playing games, eating so much crazy delicious food (and also slow-clapping for my mom when she pulls off the freeway to take us to in-n-out), singing to t-swift in the car, and finding out my dad is a BIG spiderman fan. and how about utah's blizzard, huh? all good things.

yesterday, i was transferring all my contacts from my old phone to my new christmas phone (holla), and i was reminded that i'm most grateful for all of the people in my life. i have the most stellar family and friends. it was weird to see that a large portion of the contacts in my phone are all my guy friends out on missions right now. that was a little sad, but i'm also so incredibly happy they're all out there helping people and serving the lord. it was also fun to add in all of my old friends from high school, and then to add my new friends i've met since being in college. i've been so blessed to be able to know so many amazing people.

i'm also so thankful for my heavenly father and jesus christ, which is the whole point of this holiday! i know they live and love us.

my first and last one direction post (probably)

last night, my sister jamie, my mom and i played "snog, date, dump, marry, brother" with the 1D boys,

 and i said i would marry niall.

jamie wasn't quite ok with me saying that, and assured me that niall was all hers and i better keep my distance.

she may have a fit, but i just want to immortalize this moment:

we had some fun playing dress-up tonight.

my big sister kylie lives directly across the street from me. 90 steps from her front door to mine. 

which is AWESOME. she's nice to have around.

yesterday was in-n-out, the october tradition: corpse bride, and frankenweenie.

guys. frankenweenie.

i command you to go see it. today. skip school. skip work. whatever. 

it was so good. just go watch it.

i went in expecting a pretty good halloween movie.

but it is a FANTASTIC all-the-time movie. well done, tim burton.

i will own frankenweenie the day it comes out. 

and i will probably be watching it and quoting it as much as i do fantastic mr. fox

(that's big, people).

our biggest liz lemon-ism

me: there was free food on campus today for freshmen. i should have just joined a Ygroup instead of going to work. #sandwiches

kylie: ahhhhh that sounds so good. you should have been a freshman.

me: i could definitely sneak into a group. i blend right in. i don't have college student swag yet.

kylie: i think you have swag, but you could def tone it down if there are sandwiches involved.

went to in-n-out with my ladies and ate my first double-double.

watched this and this.

went bowling with brooke and peypey. i lost. had to buy them ice cream.

ate a lot of cadbury eggs.

listened to a lot of awolnation.

sister dates and dreams

i've gone on some good sister dates this week.

cupcake date with jamie. concert date with kylie.

also, i've been having a lot of dreams with celebrity appearances:

dreams where portia de rossi is trying to destroy my life.

dreams where i'm hanging out at the beach with justin bieber and captain america.

dreams where i'm supposed to go to a meeting with christian bale.

and last night's:

a dream that brandon flowers is trying to kidnap me.

i wonder what this could mean.

weekending

you know, i'd kind of like to be heading out of town this weekend... to a beach would be lovely. a girl can dream.

i just did the weekend big clean on my room. for some reason, my room is always so messy by the time friday gets here. i don't even know how it happens. but it does. i should get rid of some clothes...

now that the cleaning sesh is done, it's time to move on to the real weekend festivities. i'm having a sister night with kylie, which will consist of sandwiches and movies. because that's how we do. kylie was in school last semester with me, and we had a sister day every tuesday. we went to devotional, then lunch with dad, then i hung out at the library with her while she worked as a tutor. she graduated and we don't have tuesday sister day anymore, so it'll be fun to have a sister night.

tomorrow will be a laundry, grocery shopping, homework day. james dean might pop in for a visit as well.... we'll see. i hope everyone has a rockin weekend!

today kylie sent me a text that said this:

that's when I almost threw up out of jealousy.

then i sat there beating myself up for not going with her to the sundance film festival.

january 15th is the best day for a birthday, i think. it's always on or near a 3-day weekend. this birthday was a good one. i got a bunch of great stuff. and i had a sweet one-minute dance party to mr. brightside at 1:51pm (my actual time of birth). and i got to hang out with all my favorite people. 19 is going to be cool.
