university of pleasant grove college: our campus is our campus

Let me give you some information behind this video.

College day. Maybe you remember it. We had to watch a bunch of cheesy little videos about each college and why we should go there. Cameron passed me a note during one of the presentations that said, "we have to make a video like this about our school. but call it pleasant grove college."

And we did.

burning bridge

One of the coolest things since I got a missionary high five out a car window happened today.

Keetch, Dillon, Cam, and I were doing a radio show during second period. We were talking about Gandolfo's and how wonderful it was, when Gandolfo himself called us and told us we could all have free sandwiches.

Actually, we sort of called the restaurant and told them to listen to KPGR, then we praised them on the radio for 5 minutes, and then a guy (who wasn't really Gandolfo) called in and told us we could all have free sandwiches if we brought them a recording of the show. So we spent most of 3rd period in total bliss eating free sandwiches at Gandi's.

I love those kind sandwich-making souls that listen to local radio stations when high school kids tell them to.

boots.

Try to tell me that my legs don't look like Anastasia's today.
I won't believe you.

That's part of the reason why I wanted these boots in the first place...

sorry about all the videos lately.

my internet is fixed! woo.

sometimes I complain that school is the worst. it kind of is, but i'm happy there are so many awesome people at PG. and that's the truth.

dad "how was the game?"
me "good, we won. it was so cold though."
dad "isn't that crazy?"
me "that we won? yeah"
dad "no, that we chose to live in this state. we could be living in a warm one."
haha.

i love these people. i can only hope to be half as cool as them when i grow up.
they make sweet videos. and live in virginia (hello favorite state), and are in love.

Enjoy it. I love the song.

It feels like a Friday. It's not.

e brake. plus other stuff.

When you drive with your emergency brake on, it sounds and feels like you have a flat tire. Don't let it fool you.

I'm really good at eating with chopsticks. Hidden talent.

The best smell in the whole world is Johnson&Johnson Baby Shampoo, hands down.

On my next radio show, I'm going to start out by giving everyone their "daily drought reminder..." Because sometimes I feel like that girl.
Also, I think I'll say, "Uh, Cinderella? If you're listening... your prince wants to rendezvous with you after the pep rally."

I hate public bathrooms.

quilting bee

Remember how I am in love with quilts?
Also, how I'm sort of obsessed with maps?

So apparently, they make these quilts now with city maps stitched on them.
Whaat? I know.
These have just shot to the #1 spot on my wish list.

I'm excited about these.

*Something I've realized this week (as I've been watching a lot of Next Iron Chef on Food Network):
I'm much better at sewing than I am at cooking.
I enjoy sewing much more than cooking too.
Maybe because you don't eat your project when you're done.
You get to enjoy it and use it and cherish it for.e.ver.

Aaaand, sewing projects don't boil over/burn/set up if you take your time making them...

si tu ne'tais pas la

The Bad News:
My curling iron is done for. Broken. It basically caught on fire the other day.
It was the greatest curling iron too. And it isn't fixable.

The Good News:
I checked out Amelie on DVD from the library. I've fallen head over heels for the soundtrack, so I'm thinking I'll like the movie. I'll probably watch it tomorrow morning. Watching movies in the morning is one of my favorite things!

Happy Weekend.

oh, i just thought of something to say

You may remember this post I did.

I'd like to clarify something right now.
YES, the Jonas Brothers passed their prime a while ago.
But I still think they're pretty dreamy.
Really dreamy actually.

How could you say no to those faces?
I'm not ashamed to say it anymore:
I'd love me a JoBro.

While we're here, we might as well do a Snog, Date, Dump.
Since Kevin is married now and thus out of the running, we'll add Zac Efron.

Joe, Nick, and Zac.
Snog. Date. Dump.
Give me a few days to think about it.

since i can't think of anything to say today...

Watch this without smiling, I dare you.
It makes me want to adopt a little asian kid.
And buy a ukulele.

tidbits

I came across this cool photo of Jane Fonda the other day. Pretty girl. She's hilarious in the movie Monster in Law. Have you seen it?

Has anyone else ever wondered why September is the 9th month instead of the 7th?

I keep getting letters and emails from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. I think if I went there, I'd find it way too comical...

Fall break yo. I need this so bad.

That is Priceless

Masterpiece #355

Workshop of Jan van Ravesteyn, Dutch
Christian Bale Playing a Woman Disguised as Christian Bale, 1609
Oil on Panel

I wish I was this funny.
All the credit goes to That is Priceless.
Here is another recent favorite.
Enjoy.

P.S. I think Mr. Newman totally could be writing a blog like that. He's sort of an expert on making up captions for historical paintings.

homecoming

First of all, there was a homecoming pageant.

When all was said and done, I had a lot of fun and I'm so glad I did it.
Doing my skit was my favorite part (did I just say I liked doing a skit?).
I did the Taylor Swift SNL monologue, but I changed all the lyrics so it was all about KPGR.
Here I am with my awesome guitar player, Dillon. He was super nice to come to all the rehearsals with me. Nice kid. And who knew he looked so good as a cowboy?
This was just before we constructed a bolo tie out of a shoe lace, a chocolate coin, and electrical tape...

And then there was a homecoming dance.
Here's what the dress looked like.
And what's a blog for if you don't post awkward pictures of yourself?
Me and Danny.
I think you all should know that he asked me in probably the most elaborate way possible.
I won't go into great detail, but I will say it involved a scrapbook of my favorite things, a door, hot kool-aid, and a lovely bouquet of orange flowers.
Pretty awesome.

the most under-appreciated disney ladies

The Muses from Hercules. Especially the one with the long, flowing hair. Love her.

Tiger Lily from Peter Pan. Obviously a babe. I'd do anything to have a pair of moccasin boots like hers.

Jane from Tarzan. She so doesn't get enough credit. She's gorgeous. And awesome.

You don't have to be a princess to be cool. . .

Thursday

Also known as
Ballet Day.

For years, Thursdays consisted of:

pink tights
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
bar
the knitting lady
leotards
carpets
the creepy staircase that no one dared climb
black rubber floors
NOT touching the insulation on the walls
high ponytails
sore toes
teacher Lynn
the parachute
and endless ron de jambes

It's programmed in my brain.
Thursday = Ballet Day.

Milk. The backbone of young Britain.

My sister lived in England for a few months last spring/summer.
She brought back this little print for me.
Everytime I look at the slogan at the bottom, it cracks me up.
Talk about random.
But I drink more milk than water, so that's why I love it.

I love all those WWII posters. Like this one and this one. So cool.
