oh, i like him.

he came to my orchestra concert last night. nice of him.
isn't he handsome?
rockin the plaid.

we watched fireworks on the fourth of july together.
as we were watching them, we noticed that all the different kinds of fireworks were like people we knew. some fireworks are loud and colorful. some are more subtle but just as pretty. some go off in groups. some are just super bright flashes of light. we compared our friends to fireworks for a while.
then a gold firework went off. you know the big glittery ones that sparkle and spread out really slowly?
he said, "that kind is you. because it's the best kind."

i don't know if he remembers that. but i remember it.

look to my right, and i see the...

I have touched RDJ's hand. It's whatever.
I'm sorta crazy about movies and film history and celebs, as you know. Going to Grauman's Chinese Theatre really tickled my fancy.

thankful

This is what I ate on Thanksgiving this year.
But you know what? It was definitely ok with that.

I think I'm most thankful for all of the people in my life.
I'm thankful for my family. I'm thankful for my friends.
Those relationships mean everything to me.
I'm so thankful for my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
I'd be lost without my faith and the gospel.

I can't even begin to list all the things I'm thankful for.
All I know is that life is really good.

road trip

Blogging from the car? What?
I remember when my parents would bungee cord our little TV to the partition between the driver seat and the passenger seat on road trips so Kylie and I could watch our Ferngully and Mary-Kate and Ashley VHSs.
Technology is pretty neat these days.

impossible dream

i wish i videotaped my film professor lecturing during classes all semester. i'd love to go back and listen to all his cool thoughts again. he is so smart and has such good insights when it comes to film and art, and just life in general. not to mention he is hilarious and totally sarcastic. i really liked something he said a few weeks ago. paraphrasing:

"a lot of times people don't like musicals or operas because they aren't realistic. people think, 'ok, no one really bursts into song when something great or something confusing happens. people don't act that dramatic or cheesy in real life'
...don't you think the people who write the musicals and operas are aware of that? i think they know that it's not realistic. but can't these things just exist for the sake of art and creation?"
- dean duncan

he's so right. i'll be sad when this class ends. but the good news is, he's one of the professors over the film department. so please bless i get in when i apply in the winter.

i've been loving this song lately. it's from a musical called man of la mancha.

this is the nest

such a great nest.
so hard to get out of in the mornings.
where i write all my papers.
where i watch all my shows on hulu.
where i'm sitting right now as i try to write this darn annotated bibliography.
reading millions of scholarly articles is total buzz-kill.

and yeah, i do hit my head on that shelf a lot. but it's all good.
hooray for the nest.

triple play

I watched three movies today. And they were all movies I hadn't seen before. 42 Up. I watched it for my film class. I love documentaries because I am a big nerd. Jane Eyre. It was lovely. And I get to write a really big paper on it for the same film class. I'm actually going to like writing that paper. And Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Just because.

None of these movies are alike at all. But I like all movies. That is the truth.

christmas music

I'm in the process of making my christmas music playlist.
So, I'm wondering. What is your favorite christmas song, artist, or album?
I want suggestions.

This is one of my all-time favorite christmas albums. Love it.
Beach Boys. I recommend it.

Tell me what you like! So I can like it too.
Please and thank you.

just sitting here. wearing plaid. doing my research paper.
i found a website that reads a list of diseases in whatever accent you want. computerized australian accent. ha.
my orchestra class ended half an hour early. the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate.
screams just exploded from my kitchen. my roommates are watching jim and pam kiss for the first time.

The new season of 30 Rock is going to be shortened because of Tina's maternity leave.
Good for Tina. Bad for us.
First the NBA lockout, and now this?! It's madness.

allred concert.

i went to an allred concert last night (look how close i was) at the velour. ok, that guy is talented. my favorite was his cover of with or without you by u2. gorgeous. he did all the looping of each instrument sound himself. it was unreal.

i love music. this week i've been listening to every kind of music you could think of. and i've been listening to it constantly. seriously, you should see my grooveshark playlist. you name it, it's probably on my list this week. music is so good.

i counted

787 steps from work to my apartment door.
it takes the exact amount of time to walk home from work
as it does to listen to "all these things that i've done" by the killers.
cool story.

i've got soul, but i'm not a soldier...

miike.

i registered for winter classes last night at midnight.

i flipped to the back of my planner to plan it out on the blank calendar. I saw where I planned out my fall schedule. And also this:

I guess I heard that song when I was planning my fall schedule.
I looked it up and remembered why I wrote it down. It's good.

I recommend writing down the songs you really really really like. Because you can go back later and make a rockin playlist that you love. That's what I do. And this song made the cut.
