this has been me for the past few days:

i didn't take up smoking or anything,

but spring semester/life has got me all grouchy lately.

my last week as a not-missionary has been such a good one so far.

first of all:

it's been a FOOD week. I don't know why but I just keep eating so much great stuff. pastrami burgers, costco gelato, and not pictured: the best pizza, vietnamese food, fish and chips, chick fil a, and all the ice cream and shakes. these people are spoiling me.

secondly: watching the craziest lightning storm from the capitol, hot springs, movie-watching, and reminiscing. all with sam. i'm sure it's the fact that i'm leaving so soon, but these last days we have spent together have been some of the sweetest.

update: i did get some sleep at long last.

but i woke up feeling like a zombie.

and also i was wearing the exact same outfit as R from warm bodies.

so. that was appropriate.

sweet tender mercies

i'm feeling way behind in school right now. after my busy weekend especially. and here i am blogging instead of writing the 2000 words that are due tomorrow!

amidst all the chaos (and sometimes crappy-ness) that has been this month of march, a few tender mercies stuck out to me today:

i got my film history midterm back today and i NAILED it.
i ran into the whole men's rugby team.
i'm getting sick, but i found a whole bottle of ibuprofen in my backpack today to remedy it.
my professor's wife is having a baby so class is cancelled on thursday.
i got an email from the italy rome mission saying that i get to wear my sandals and my boots. YAAAY YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM!
even though i have a big paper due tomorrow that i haven't started, it's a paper about "who framed roger rabbit" because my major is the shiz.
my bff kelyn sends me paul rudd gifs daily.

k now i gotta WRITE. peace.

hiya, weekend

the good news:

the little film i'm making is going well and will be done in the next few days.

the parks and rec wedding last night made my heart explode. also ron swanson is a boss.

i'm building a human-sized cocoon for a movie and yesterday i took a little nap in a layer of the cocoon skin and it was so cozy. and i emerged with beautiful wings. just kidding. but the cocoon nap was real.

this is still a thing in my life. (tired of me talking about that soundtrack yet? heheh).

IT'S OSCARS WEEKEND.

the bad news:

NONE! it's the freakin weekend! even wet shoes can't get me down today.

run-on sentences ensue

jack actually acknowledged my presence when i went home today which is good because that is getting rarer the longer i live away from home.

last night i was washing my face and i hit my head on the faucet but don't worry i'll be ok and i also listened to sam's town last night and i cried a little bit because it's really pretty.

i also heard this song called nicaragua and then i thought about nicaragua and the boy that is there and i got sad a little because he is in the jungle and mail is really slow but then i got happy again because he is the best.

i accidentally left a can of diet coke in the car and this morning it was totally frozen and i still tried to drink it and frozen coke chunks don't taste that great and right after that i dropped a handful of quarters and they all landed heads up so i think i'm a wizard.

november times

i saw 4am far too many times and ate a metric ton of nutella.
i saw the killers and died of happiness. and maybe busted a vocal chord for screaming.
i was told that i was funnier than dick van dyke and conan. whoa. maybe a hyperbole there.
two of my professors replied to my tweets. which is more validating than a celebrity replying. (and i actually got a semi-celebrity favorite on a tweet, which was neat).
i got an awesome thanksgiving break with my favorite people and cat in the whole world.
i made some incredibly awesome friends. the film department brings similar people together and we spent hours and hours oversharing our entire life stories with each other while working on set and making cool things together.

what happened last week?

this past week was a blur. i barely remember any specific events that happened. i pack a lot of ish into each day. it's cool, it's college. but this week, i'm hoping to actually remember some of the stuff that happens instead of being a college robot.

last night i had "good night ladies" from the music man stuck in my head. it kept replaying over and over. but instead of the line at the end: "we're going to leave you now," my mind kept saying, "we're going to kill you now." ok... good night, ladies. we're going to kill you now. that's cool.

here's to a better week ahead.

i was caught in the act of eating toast on the stairs.

the bell tower started playing the harry potter theme RIGHT when i walked under it today. magical.

i bought a lot of feminine-type products today.

and instead of the cashier saying, "how are you today?" he said "how are you feeling today?"

ha. ha. ha.
